The Academy of Ancient Music performs classical and baroque works in the style and spirit in which it was originally intended.
“Our performances explore the soundworlds which inspired Bach, Handel and Haydn. We revel in the expressive power of old instruments — flutes made out of wood, trumpets without valves, strings woven from gut.”
Orchestra-in-residence at Cambridge University and Associate Ensemble at the Barbican in London and touring internationally across six continents the AAM have built a global reputation, with over 300 recordings winning Brit and Gramophone awards. In 2009 the orchestra made history with the world’s first-ever live choral “cinecast” of Handel’s Messiah which was beamed in real time from the chapel of King’s College, Cambridge to tens of thousands of people in cinemas in over 250 cities around the globe.
We were invited to design season brochures for both forthcoming Cambridge and London Barbican programmes. Part of a brand re-positioning which saw the introduction of hand drawn graphic elements, an extended typographic system and livelier colour palette. A bold graphic language better reflecting contemporary audiences and the historical yet innovative nature of the organisation. Our work with the AAM continues with roll-out of the new design system to posters, flyers, programmes, and their latest CD recording.
