just missed you Rich (it was very Jeremy Deller wasn't it?)

LIGHT TRAFFIC ONLY:

China Mug – #2nd Edition

This is the first in a series of homeware and gift products featuring the typography found on white village sign posts. Older signs are cast in steel, later versions rivet individual metal letters onto wooden posts. The signs are slowly disappearing – they are vandalised, buried in hedges, destroyed in car accidents and inevitably replaced with their modern equivalent.

So, support your local black and white sign post and buy a commemorative mug or tea towel! … other products are planned. Available at our online store and at various open studio days, markets and fairs throughout the year. For more information and to order please visit 59HighStreet.com

LIGHT TRAFFIC ONLY products are also available from Cambridge Contemporary Crafts

hey – see what you mean now – very nice indeed.

  2. Very nice work. I love that overlooked signage. Good to see it being brought to a new audience.
At the risk of sounding ridiculous, may I suggest typographic jigsaws? If you make a fortune from that, you owe me a pint . . .
    cheers,

Please let me know when they come up for sale.

Chish*i*ll (not Chishall) – its Chrishall, Lt Chishill and Gt Chishill – for 2nd Edition ;-)

thanks Rosemarie – v observant! I hadn’t noticed the typo… BUT the village names are literally photographed from the signs… so a spelling mistake yes but an authentic and historic one!
